God is Deeply in Love with Us!
Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark and saw the stone removed…Then the other disciple also went in…and he saw and believed. – John 20:1, 8
In some ways, the last year has felt much like “…the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark.” We have seen so much darkness—in the ways people relate to those different than themselves; in the arenas of politics and public health; in our inability to go and to do. Still, if we look hard enough, the Light has been here throughout—worldwide, people stood on rooftops, balconies, and in driveways cheering thanks and praise for nurses and doctors; food pantries provided and continue to provide assistance to those in need; retail establishments got creative with curbside pick-ups.
While it is true that there will always be darkness, and some days feel like a Lent that will never end, the Light has always been; the Light of Christ will always break through our darkness. Jesus, our light, our hope, our resurrected Savior lives. He has conquered death and darkness once for all. Today and every day, Alleluia is our song!
May we bask in the Light of the empty tomb and remember the words of Jesus, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” (Revelation 22:13), that we may believe.
He is Risen! He is Risen, indeed!
