God is Deeply in Love with Us!
“Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths…” – Mark 1:3
These are familiar words from Mark’s gospel. We hear them during Advent, with good reason; they hold deep and profound meaning.
Ask yourself today, how can I get my heart ready to receive Jesus? After all, that is what I think it means to “prepare the way of the Lord.” We are called by virtue of our baptism to be ready to receive Jesus in all the ordinary moments of every day and to seek God’s will for our lives in those moments. In addition, we are challenged to be ready to receive Jesus when He calls us to Himself at the end of our time on earth.
So, what do you need to do in order to prepare the way of the Lord? How can you help to make the path straighter for yourself and those you love? For me, it starts with prayer…I can always pray more—I can always ask God for more grace, more patience, more joy, more unconditional love, more forgiveness, and more peace.
May these Advent days be days of preparation, filled with joy, hope, and the knowledge that God is with us, giving us grace for each step on our path, if we but seek Him.
Come Lord Jesus, come.
