God is Deeply in Love with Us!
In all your undertakings…ask yourself: Am I really doing this in accordance with God’s will?
- St. John Climacus
Lots of changes have happened in our lives over the past several weeks. One big change for all of us is that we are spending more time away from our previous obligations. Meetings have been canceled and appointments have been postponed. We may have more downtime.
This quote made me think of my elementary school report cards. I am not sure if the report cards of today include it, but for those of us of a certain age, there was a section on our report card that included the category “Uses time wisely.” For my mom and dad, that section was more important than our actual grades in math or science or reading.
Mom and Dad had it right then, and St. John Climacus has it right today. How are we using our time? Are we taking this time to check ourselves and ask, what is my motivation? Am I doing things for the right reasons? Is this action in accordance with God’s will for me?
If you haven’t been taking some of this extra time to ask God to show you His will “in all your undertakings,” no worries. You can start today. Let us quiet ourselves before our loving God, ask for the wisdom to discern His plan for us, and seek always to follow His ways and His blessed will for our lives.
Come, Holy Spirit.
